Burriana Beach: our home beach in Nerja

Nerja’s liveliest beach, a 10-minute walk from Villa Lucena. Here is where we eat, swim and paddle.

Burriana Beach with parasols and the Mediterranean

In short

  • Nerja’s largest and liveliest beach, with a Blue Flag (2026)
  • Paseo de Burriana: a promenade full of restaurants
  • Paella cooked over a wood fire at Ayo
  • Kayak tours to the Maro waterfall, about 2.5–3 hours
  • Sunbeds, parasols and lifeguards in summer; good for families

What to expect

Burriana is a long beach of dark sand and pebbles on the east side of Nerja, backed by the Paseo de Burriana with its beach bars and restaurants. In summer there are sunbeds, parasols, showers and lifeguards; the Blue Flag stands for clean water and good facilities.

Things to do

Kayaking to the Maro waterfalls

Guided kayak tours leave from Burriana and follow the cliffs east to the waterfall at Maro, with caves, coves and snorkelling on the way. A tour takes about 2.5 to 3 hours; go in the morning, when the sea is calmest.
